Steps
 

 

For all types and for all workmanships the rock has to be substantially uniform and compact and with no weathered parts. Rocks with subdivision planes able to determine the breakup of the elements after the laying have to be excluded.

a) Cleft Steps

Natural slabs, without backs or indentations, with a thickness of 3-4-5 cm and cleft sides.  The length can be fixed or varying, the width on request.

b) Milled Steps and Carved Steps

Natural slabs, without backs or indentations, with a thickness of 3-4-5 cm and with milled sides. The length can be fixed or varying, the width on request. Moreover the visible sides can be chiseled or blazed.

c) Semi-polished Steps with Milled sides

Slabs with semi-polished surface (about 60-70% polished surface, 40% natural surface), with a thickness of 3-4-5 cm and milled sides. The length can be fixed or varying, the width on request. The visible sides can be chiseled or blazed.


d) Polished Steps

Slabs with polished surface, with a thickness of 3-4 cm or more on request and with polished visible sides. Width and length on request.

e) Solid Steps

The upper surface must be natural; the visible side must have a thickness ranging from 6 to 20 cm. The headings and the internal side must be cleft or sawed. The length can be fixed or varying, the width on request. The visible sides can be cleft-worked (thick- or thin-pointed), rough or blazed.
